You can easily start meditation at home with a few things. There is no need for any fancy equipment or a fancy place to start meditation. It just needs you and you. Your mind and body is the only thing you will use to do meditation. It is the process of bringing your mind and body in synchronisation.
Meditation is the process of being aware of your inner world. It is easy to see the outside world with your beautiful eyes, but to know your inner self, meditation is the key. It will help you to listen to your inner feeble voice known as INTUITION.
Actually, meditation is the essence of life. All living beings are alive because they breathe. We are supposed to breathe deep breaths with a mind in present. But what we do is the opposite. We never pay attention to our present and the day goes just like that.
Meditation is a simple act of bringing your mind to the present time.
Meditation can be done easily at home, there are few things you will need to start doing meditation at home.
The biggest requirement is motivation. As with other health goals and resolutions, meditation can be a goal for the new year but as the year progresses, most of the goals and resolutions take a backseat in the busy hustle and bustle of lives.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. Buddha
Meditation is the practice which needs to be done daily consistently. Keep those objects near you which motivate you to stay in the routing of meditation. Your goal may be to reduce stress, feel more happy or be aware of your self and go deeper inside the realms of the mind. It could be anything but it should be enough to motivate you to do this practice daily.
You have a treasure within you that is infinitely greater than the world can offer. Eckart Tolle
What you need to start meditation at home
1.A quiet place/room
Yes, my friend, you will need either a quiet room ar a quiet corner to start doing meditation. When you are away from clamour and noises, it is easy to bring back your mind every time it wanders and. You cannot have an empty mind but you can learn to focus your thoughts on what you want.
With the practice, you can start meditating with the outside noises. But in the beginning, you will need a quiet place to focus your mind.
2. A minimalist design room
The room which you want to use for meditation should be clear from clutter and unnecessary objects. A clean and declutter place will give you a sense of calmness which will further help you in coming to meditation state easier.
Objects in the room can evoke memories in your mind or you may be tempted to keep that object at another place. Your mind may start thinking about the object. It is best to use those items in the room which helps to inspire to do meditations.
Studies have shown that people who live in a clean and organised house are more healthy than people living in cluttered houses.
3. A comfortable cushion to sit
While meditating, you will be sitting most of the time. Your set should be comfortable. You can use a chair or sofa to sit but if you are sitting on the ground, you will need a comfortable cushion t sit. Mind and body are interconnected and if you will feel unease in your body, it will not let you focus during meditation.
A relaxed body will help you focus better while an uneasy body will increase uneasiness in your mind.
4. A well-lit place
The room you want to use for meditation should be well lit. It will help you make your mind calm. A naturally lit room boosts our mood, increase productivity and provides a tranquil atmosphere.
If your meditation room will be very dark or gloomy, it will have an opposite effect on your mind. you will feel restless and agitated while a well-lit place will inspire you to be in your presence.
5. A timer to start meditation at home
I know it is difficult to focus while starting out on a journey of meditation for too long, a timer can help to focus for a set time of period. Keep the ring of timer gentle and keep it at some space so that you are not tempted to check the time every second.
6. The comfortable temperature of the room
This one is a very important step. Your meditation place should have a comfortable temp, not very cold and not very hot. If it will be very cold, it can make you uncomfortable, a warm room will let you feel sleepy.
Temperature of your room should be on colder side. It helps to stay calm and will help you meditate better.
If you need, you can use incense or stick. We have a room dedicated to our spiritual prayers. I use the same room for meditation. The roo is empty and I have only a few things in that room. The room is well lit and ventilated. Just entering into that room gives a sense of calmness and inspires you to sit for meditation.
I think it is a good idea to keep a room or a definite place on the corner in a room to start meditation.
To start meditation at home, you need your mind and body and a quiet corner. Start today and you will feel the benefits soon.
